John O'Donnell's first stand up performance
Laughing All the Way to the Bank?
Groundhog day in sixty seconds
groundhog day in 60 seconds on youtube
John O'Donnell is one of Dublin's least known stand ups. In November 2009 he got sick of absolutely nobody telling him that he should have a go at stand up and signed himself up for the Battle of the Axe stand up/singer-songwriter open mic competition in Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge Inn. As luck would have it, somebody brought John's camera so he could be filmed for the whole internet to see. You may or may not be interested to know that
John actually won the Battle of the Axe competition as voted on by the very kind punters of Ha'Penny Bridge Inn - no really, he really did. Really. Vote him funny.
As well as filming his stand up debut, John found the time to film his documentary debut on the same subject. Featuring an interview with Battle of the Axe creator and opperator, Tony Ferns and clips of the other comedians he beat when he won the Battle of the Axe. Shout outs to all the comedians, Tony, and Mathew MacMahon who was kind enough to hold the camera.laughing all the way to the bank video
Have you seen groundhog Day? Have you seen Groundhog Day? Have you seen Groundhog Day? In February 2010 Myles Buckley of Braveheart fame cast himself in the lead role of an entry for the Jameson's 'Done in Sixty Seconds' competition alongside the beautiful Susan Flynn. The competition required movie fans to compress their favourite film down to sixty seconds. Buckley along with David O'Reilly and Stephen Dunne produced a script for a miniturised version of the Bill Murray classic, Groundhog Day. The movie needed some star power however needed some star power and the lads decided to bring in John O'Donnell at the last minute. John plays three different characters. He won rave reviews for his role as 'Old Lady', but observant viewers will also notice him in the roles of Restaurant Customer #3 and Letchie Bar Guy. He was also chief costume consultant and head of proptologu. Unfortunately for the world, problems with Dave's internet connection meant the film could not be uploaded in time to enter.
